How To Make A Best-Dressed List Based On Twitter

I've been itching for a best-dressed list since awards season came to an end and my entire world lost meaning. Lo and behold, the moment has finally arrived and I couldn't be more pleased. If you haven't already checked out Rachel Zoe, The Man Repeller, People Stylewatch, or Vogue.com, you're in for a treat. If you have, I apologize for this list of dresses you're already tired of seeing. Who can resist judgmental banter about celebrity style choices made by their celebrity stylists? This year's theme, Charles James: Beyond Fashion, at the newly named Anna Wintour Costume Center, kept me guessing because frankly, I hadn't even heard of the designer until this week. Contrary to most years, this year's Met Gala wasn't even live streamed, so we all had to rely on Twitter for our red carpet updates. As much as I love to refresh my Twitter feed, it was slightly anticlimactic and I found myself on Netflix within the first half hour. Though none of us had the privilege of watching this event, we still got to ogle at celebrities after the fact as images flooded our favourite fashion websites. Based on what I saw, I concocted this best-dressed list.

NUMBER 10: Emma Stone
Designer : Thakoon
Emma Stone channelled her inner disney princess with a side braid. She also channelled her inner sex vixen with some tasteful side boob. And let's not forget that side slit and her man on the side. The only thing that wasn't on the side was her. Her choices made her the center of attention at an event where everyone is the center of attention. I suppose that's not saying much, but I still liked her outfit.

NUMBER 9: Greta Gerwig
Designer: Olivier Theyskens
This made me ponder for several hours (minutes) about whether or not I could possible like it. In my book, that's a good sign.

NUMBER 8: Lily Aldridge
Designer: Michael Kors
It isn't a party without a Victoria's Secret Model in a metallic dress. She looked pretty gorgeous, but I suppose she would've looked equally beautiful in a plastic bag.

NUMBER 7: Joan Smalls
Designer: Vera Wang
There's something about the sheer skirt of this dress that is undeniably sexy. And the dramatic purple lip was the perfect touch popularized by our favourite awkward singer, Lorde. Apparently, side braids are also coming back, so get ready ladies.

NUMBER 6: Cara Delevingne
Designer: Stella McCartney
Obviously, Cara Delevingne hadn't heard of Charles James either. Naturally, she decided to be a rebel and wear pants with a killer crop top after googling his name on her iPhone. Who can blame her for being a rule breaker?

NUMBER 5: Rihanna
Designer: Stella McCartney
Speaking of daring outfit choices, Rihanna opted for this white Stella McCartney dress that was cropped at the front to expose her rock hard abs and a hint of her tattoo. Leave it to Rihanna to be a rebel in head-to-toe white. Wait until you see the back.

NUMBER 4: Blake Lively
Designer: Gucci
Blake Lively showed up with her arm candy (Ryan Reynolds) and of course, her signature blond retro waves. Her dress was alright too.

NUMBER 3: Sarah Jessica Parker
Designer: Oscar de la Renta
Apparently, Sarah Jessica Parker took the theme VERY seriously by wearing this extravagant gown by Oscar de la Renta, long gloves, and a bouffant hairdo. As usual, she brought back Carrie Bradshaw with this dress, further convincing me that they are one and the same.

NUMBER 2: Hailee Steinfeld
Designer: Prabal Gurung
The biggest surprise of the night was Hailee Steinfeld. She made everyone's best dressed list this year because of this gorgeous black and white Prabal Gurung gown. Wow is the word.

NUMBER 1: Suki Waterhouse
Designer: Burberry
Of course, Suki Waterhouse wore Burberry like a proud Brit. She may be wearing a sweet frilly dress, but that red lip reminds us of her edgy side.

Did you catch the Met Gala Twitter feed? Which was your favourite dress from last night? Were you inspired by the theme?
